Powerpoint

For my first CCR, I decided to do a powerpoint. I decided to make a powerpoint for this because this was the question that I did not understand that well. I hard trouble relating my genre to social issues and problems and I also didn't understand conventions that well. I though powerpoints were not that hard so i could use it on this question to make things easier for myself

For my second and third CCRs I decided to make videos of me talking about them. I decided to make videos because I prefer to explain things by talking, so it was easier for me to explain how I completed this project by talking, rather than writing it down or making a slide show. I took about two to three minutes on each CCR so i could thoroughly explain how I did things and what my though process was throughout the project.
Today I went back to clean up my magazine one last time before being completely done with it. I rearranged a few things on each page to try and make it look like things corresponded with each other a lot better. I also added basic things like bolded important words or phrases, and also added page numbers on each page.

Throughout this whole process of making this magazine cover, I have been using a website called Canva. I have also been using to make the Table of Contents and Article as well. It is a very useful website that makes pages with pictures on them, and text and shapes can be added on to it. This project would have been a lot more difficult if I wasn't able to use this website, because there were a lot of cool features that helped me build my magazine.
Today I made the final article for the magazine. It was about the best summer fashion stores, and I interviewed my friend Antonia to help me out with it. Just like planned, I mostly wrote about the information Antonia gave me so it makes sense for people who have summers with and without beaches. I added a picture of a store on a beach so people can see a visual of what that might look like. It was a very basic article, but it should be useful for people who really do not know where to shop for summer clothes.
Today I had my interview with Antonia. I met her at her house and we hung out for a little bit before i started the interview. When I finally did start the interview, she gave me a lot of background about how summer style is different in New Jersey than Florida. In New Jersey, they usually only where summer type of clothes if they go swimming in lakes, but other than that it is more normal clothes. That was a surprise for me to hear, especially because in Florida people wear bathing suits all the time, even if they aren't going swimming. She also answered all my questions throughout the interview, and here are the results.

- Do you prefer summer in Florida, or in New Jersey?
Answer: Florida because there is always a beach to go to
- Where do you usually go to get your clothes during the summer?
Answer: To keep up with what is trending, I usually go to stores on the beach to always keep up with the common fashion.
-Where did you usually go to get your clothes when you lived in New Jersey?
Answer: I usually went to the store near my house just to get a sometime of bikini, but most people always wore bikinis and boys would wear solid color trunks.
-Are you usually always caught up in the trending style over the summer?
Answer: I try to always stay caught up in fashion because I like to try and fit in, but sometimes during the winter I wear what is most comfortable to me.
Today I planned my interview with my friend. Here is some background information on her and why I chose her. It is hard to do a summer magazine when I've only lived in Florida so I do not know what summer is like where there are not any beaches. However, the girl I am interviewing (Antonia), moved here from New Jersey 4 years ago. I thought that she could give me insight on summer where there are beaches, and where they are not any. Also, Antonia is usually very caught up in whatever type of fashion is trending so that could help.

Some of the questions I plan on asking her during our interview:
- Do you prefer summer in Florida, or in New Jersey?
- Where do you usually go to get your clothes during the summer?
-Why?
-Where did you usually go to get your clothes when you lived in New Jersey?
-Why?
-Are you usually always caught up in the trending style over the summer?
Today I went to the beach to take a picture for my article. I had to reschedule my interview because my friend who I am interviewing had to cancel. I drove to my local beach "Siesta Key Beach", to try and take pictures of some stores. There are actually a lot of places to get clothes near the beach, but I decided to pick probably the most popular store "Beach Bizaar". I took the picture with my own phone and also put a filter on it after. The angle was a medium shot, which showed the front of the store but also the walkway in front to get a good view of it if someone was walking by.
My article will be about the best places to shop for summer fashion for teens. I will mostly focus on the interview I will have, but also important places to get summer type clothes. Thinking ahead, I am planning on talking about basic places like target and walmart but I am also going to talk about stores on the beach. I am doing this because I am going to take pictures of stores on the beach next weekend when I have my interview.

To format my article, I will title it "The Best Summer Fashion Stores", and put a yellow border around it to match the theme. I am also going to add that it was by me and the page number, to have a little more text on the page. I plan on putting the picture on the second page of the article so there is something fun and interesting to look at. It will also give the audience a better view of what beach stores look like.
Today I went back to clean up my magazine cover and Table of Contents before I start my article. I made only a few changes, but they will make my project look a lot better in the long run. First I added a fake scanner onto my magazine to make it look more real. Then I titled my article and placed it in the bottom left corner where it can be easily seen. I also a type of strap line to explain what the magazine will mostly be about

In the Table of Contents, the only thing I did was provide each article title a one sentence description below it. I did it because that would make the magazine seem more legit and most magazines have a description in them regardless

Today I have been working on my Table of Contents. The table of contents is going to have some things similar for me and my group, but also different. We are all going to have the same format and fonts, but different colors and obviously different contents to our magazines. We are using the template Atelier, and we are going to keep the same fonts for our text. Anton for title, Open Sans for slogan, and Antonio Light for any other text.

I personally am going to be using the same type of colors for my text. Blue and yellow for the background so it will match well with the cover. And then I will be using black text so it can stand out more. I will display eight different pages of content, but I have not decided what they will be yet.
I have now started working on making my magazine cover, and I’ve been working on figuring out which colors best clash with the picture, and also what fonts to use. The main to colors i have e to represent my magazine is yellow and blue. Most of the text is back but the colors that stand out the most are yellow and blue. My group and I have been using the same fonts for what we use, such as Anton for the title, Open Sans for the slogan, and Antonio Light for any text to describe the magazine.

I placed the Title in the top right corner so it can be seen better and it is farther from the picture. I placed the slogan in the top left corner so it is lightly shown, and I put puffs near the actual picture. I also italicized any buzz words.

Over thanksgiving break I got a few productive things done. Most importantly, I took the picture of my friend for the magazine cover. I am also now changing what I originally had planned, because I was going to have a darker and mysterious cover, but now I am changing it to a more happy and colorful cover. On the Wednesday before thanksgiving, me and my friend went to her apartment pool, and I took pictures of her next to the pool. She wore a yellow bathing suit and had a vitamin water with her to add something else into the picture. I had her tilt her head and smile, so the audience of the cover will get a happy summer vibe. Lastly, I took the picture with my own Iphone X. I took a medium long shot of my friend, as it shows her from her legs up. I took this shot so it can show her whole bathing suit but also so she is not that far away.

Today is the day before Thanksgiving break, which means I won't be in class for 9 days. I am only about halfway there with the blog posts so I am going to put some work into this project during the break. I also intend on taking the picture for the cover, so I can then do everything I need to do with the cover. This blog post is so I can look at what I have already done and try to reflect on what I have been doing in class. I have only been working on blog posts, so I need to prepare myself for other things I must do like table of contents, and the questions I need to answer.

In our group, Asha has already taken her picture and she has started putting the words on her magazine picture. She thinks she might change the picture but for now it looks like this (see below). So what I plan on doing is having the Off The Rack part either on the top right or left, but most likely right. She has not added any writing yet but it will mostly just go around the main picture in the middle.

Over the weekend I once again did not take a picture for my magazine cover, and now I am behind. I have still been working on the other things that I need, but I have to get working on the magazine cover. Thanksgiving break is next week and I definitely have to take the picture and work on my project during the break or I will not finish. For the rest of the week me and my group plan on discussing the type of fonts we definitely want to use and where certain magazine parts are going to go. Therefore, once I do take the picture for my magazine cover, I can throw everything else right on it.

Today my group has been deciding on which types of font to use for our magazine covers. We have looked through several different types and we want to pick one that properly matches all of covers so they look somewhat alike. We have to work on having specific things that has on all of our magazines. We know that we are using sensei font for our slogan, and a normal bold font for our title. We also are going to use Helvetica font for any other words we have under everything.

Thursday, November 14, 2019

Although I am still yet to start making my magazine cover because I don't have my picture yet, I am starting to think ahead of what I'm going to do next. Once I get everything I need I am going to try and start putting everything together. My group slightly discussed changing the way out title looks by putting "off the rack" under OTR instead of next to it. This could be something we do but we are still deciding on whether or not there will be enough room for a picture if we put it under. Once we figure that out, i pretty much have the basic idea of how I want to organize everything on my magazine, but it is possible I will think of new things as I go on.

This post will contain the thoughts I have to use for the sub topics in the magazine. Obviously I would like them to relate either to fashion or summer. One of the topics I would like to include is summer sports like baseball, soccer and swimming and the type of fashion styles they have to deal with. Another sub topic I could include is a type of bathing suit that is frequently worn. Other than that I will include any type of trending fashion styles but i just wanted to have different types of styles to include into the magazine.

This weekend I was supposed to go and take pictures with my friend, but it didn't work out because i had unexpected plans on Saturday, and she did too on Sunday. We have it scheduled again for this weekend where we can hopefully meet up at the beach on Saturday or Sunday. One thing we did discuss this weekend is for her to wear a darker color bathing suit so it can match with the more mysterious type of feeling for the magazine. Preferably she wears any type of dark blur or purple bathing suit to match the tone of everything.

Housestyle

For the House Style of this magazine, I want it to have a more of a mysterious feeling to it. I will use a font that has a type of sharp font to it. It will mostly contain of a color that blends into the background well, but also has a mysterious tone to it. I would like the model in the middle to have a serious look on her face so it can match with the rest of the tone around her.

Wednesday, November 6, 2019

My photo shoot will happen this weekend and here is all the information I would like the person to do. I am using my friend who is a model who agreed to go to the beach with me this weekend. The location will be the pier at the beach, I will us portrait mode on my Iphone, and they will be wear their bathing suit and maybe a bracelet. I plan on taking the picture near their knees up so the fashion is available. The lighting will obvious come from the sun, and maybe it will be sunset. I will hopefully have her run her fingers through her hands, or some type of pose with her hands on her hips. No props will be needed, and the frame should be more vertical.
This blog post will be more informative with more description on the magazine cover. Our title Off The Rack will be in small letters on top and the symbol OTR will be in big letters in the top left corner. There might be a pug in the top right corner. The main person of the magazine will be mostly center but maybe a little over to the right if necessary. I would like them to be posing either with their hand through the hair or with arms spread wide of a view. I will have descriptions with buzz words along the left side and some on the right. The person in the middle should look a little sassy or controlling because in a big bold font will be the words "Sassy Summer Time" somewhere on the magazine. There should be some description of what will be in the magazine relating to teens near the bottom. Some subtitles in the magazine can be trending clothes, getting ready for fall and bathing suits. Our slogan will be "Explore your true style" and it will go across the middle near the bottom in a catchy font.

Tuesday, November 5, 2019

Now I have to start thinking about what I am going to be putting in my own magazine for the cover page. Obviously I want to have a person in the middle of the page, and I either want that person to be in front of the water, on the dock, or maybe in front of some rocks on the beach. Due to this being a summer magazine, my location has to somewhat have a beach-like theme. Our title, "Off The Rack" will be put on the top of the magazine and might somehow connect to the main person. I also have three different people in mind to take pictures of, and I plan on taking these pictures this weekend.

Now that I have looked through many different magazines I now know the different types of brands I should be looking at to help me make my magazine. Some of these brands are Bazaar, Teen Vogue, Fashion and GQ Style. I have been getting a lot of good ideas and thoughts that i could use in my own magazine from looking at these.

Looking at other popular fashion magazines

After looking through many different teen fashion magazines, I can see that most of them are all different. Luckily, looking through the teen fashion magazines for the summer, I can see that they have a lot of similarities that I can most likely bring over to my own magazine. Some of these ideas I can bring over are summer buzz words, and a lot of stuff to do with the beach. I also saw from the examples that most of the cover pages had a water or beach back round, and usually the person who is the main focus was wearing a bathing suit. Also a lot of them have to do with being out of school for teens, which maybe i could bring into my magazine.

Tuesday, October 29, 2019

Hi, my name is Cameron and I will be documenting my experience of making this magazine. I will be working in a group with Alessandra, Remy, and Derrick. Our main topic is teen fashion and we decided to pick this idea because we agreed this topic is important and relative in today's society. My topic area will be about the popular types of clothes teens wear during the Summer time. I chose this to be my topic so i can learn about, as well as inform others about popularity throughout summer clothes, and maybe it could inspire teens for next summer.
